I started playing trumpet the summer between 2nd & 3rd grade. I was 7. My Dad was my first teacher - I asked him to teach me how to play “that horn in the closet “ - one of his old horns.
I am a full time professional trumpet player and the balance between my practice routine, rehearsals, gigs and “life” can be pretty hectic. But it keeps me young!
My motivation to join VCO was the opportunity to play wonderfully sensitive music with very special & talented players.
The best advice I can give young musicians is to get with a competent private teacher and patiently develop the basics and fundamentals of your instrument . And no matter what instrument you aspire to play, having some piano background is very helpful.
